The Armenistis Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on the northern tip of the island of Mykonos in Greece. It was built in 1891 by the French company of “Lighthouses of the Mediterranean”, and is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the island.
The lighthouse is situated on a rocky promontory overlooking the sea, and is visible from many parts of the island. It stands 19 meters tall and is made of stone, with a distinctive red and white striped pattern.
The Armenistis Lighthouse was originally built to guide ships through the treacherous waters around Mykonos, and played an important role in the island’s maritime history. Today, it is no longer in active use as a lighthouse, but has been preserved as a historic landmark and is a popular tourist attraction.
Visitors can climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse for panoramic views of the surrounding area, including the nearby islands of Tinos and Syros. The lighthouse is open to the public during the summer months, and admission is free.
The Armenistis Lighthouse is a symbol of Mykonos’ rich history and maritime heritage, and is an iconic landmark that is beloved by locals and tourists alike.
